SPLIT PARENT AWARENESS PROGRAM
IN DEVELOPMENT · COMING SOON
Kids talk. Parents listen.
A new child-centered parenting program for separating and divorcing families.
What if parenting education began by helping parents
see family change through their children’s eyes?
The SPLIT Parent Awareness Program is a new self-paced online program for separating and divorcing parents that combines the voices of children and teens from the acclaimed SPLIT documentaries with practical parenting guidance from divorce-parenting expert Christina McGhee, MSW.
The program begins with something simple but powerful: listening to kids.
Through selected moments from SPLIT: The EARLY Years and SPLIT UP: The TEEN Years, parents hear children and teens speak candidly about separation, conflict, two homes, relationships with their parents, and what they wish the adults in their lives understood.
These children’s experiences become the starting point for reflection and practical skill-building—helping parents consider how their own choices and behavior may affect their children and learn concrete ways to better support them through family change.
WATCH · REFLECT · PRACTICE
WATCH
Hear directly from kids and teens. Parents watch selected moments from SPLIT: The EARLY Years and SPLIT UP: The TEEN Years, hearing children describe family change in their own words.
REFLECT
Connect their experiences to their own family. Guided reflection encourages parents to consider what they have heard and how it may relate to their own children’s experiences and needs.
PRACTICE
Turn insight into practical parenting skills. Parents learn strategies for managing emotions, navigating conflict, communicating more effectively, validating their children’s feelings, and making more child-centered parenting choices.
APPROXIMATELY FOUR HOURS · SELF-PACED · ONLINE
From insight to action.
Hearing kids is where the program begins. What parents do with what they’ve heard is where it leads.
The goal is to help parents reconnect with the parent they want to be, and build real-world skills they can use in everyday family life.
Because when families change, kids need parents who can be sturdy, stable and skilled.

Built on the SPLIT documentaries
Created by award-winning filmmaker Ellen Bruno,
SPLIT: The Early Years and SPLIT UP: The Teen Years give children and teens a rare opportunity to speak openly about their experiences of divorce and family change.
Their voices are at the heart of this program.
